Make it Monday-Rain Crafts

Today was Make it Monday! We made some rain crafts that were quick, easy, and required little supplies. I chose to do this during nap-time for the 2-year-old as he hasn't liked doing any crafts that don't require making a mess (haha, can anyone relate?!) And I wanted something quick--it was definitely a case of the Mondays here!

We did two crafts. One was an umbrella and the other was a cloud and rainbow.

Craft #1. Umbrella with raindrops!

Supplies:

  • Craft/Popsicle stick
  • Construction paper or cardstock
  • String (I used thread)
  • Glue
  • Embellishments or markers to decorate the umbrella
  • Scissors

Steps:
  1. I free handed the umbrella and rain drops onto some construction paper (you could absolutely print a template online and trace them onto the paper)
  2. I let my 5-year-old cut the umbrella out to practice his cutting skills (fine motor skills.) He wanted help with the rain drops so I helped with those.
  3. I used hot glue (because I'm impatient) so I did plug this in around this time.
  4. I let him decorate the umbrella (he wanted to use markers)
  5. I wrote some letters on the rain drops so that he could arrange them in order to spell "r-a-i-n" (we're working on lower case letter recognition, he knows all his uppercase letters)
  6. He helped me cut the string to the same sizes.
  7. When all of that was done we just hot glued it all together. and voila! it was done!

Craft #2. Cloud with rainbow!

Supplies:
  • White construction paper (cloud) and rainbow colors.
  • Glue
  • Google eyes (optional)
  • Marker (also optional)

Steps:
  1. Again, I just free handed the cloud and just cut the strips.
  2. I let D glue them on in order.
  3. He then glued on the eyes and drew on the smiley face. And done!

All the prep, craft, clean up and everything took so little time! I'm, so glad he is finally loving the crafts. He asked to do a Batman craft, so (hopefully) stay tuned for a blog post about that for craft night (Wednesday.) These two crafts are proudly displayed above my office area on my bulletin board!

I hope I have inspired you to do a few easy crafts with your littles. What are your favorite types of crafts to do? Leave a comment and tell me below!
