Week 1: Space Week!

Image
Hey everyone! So, week 1 of my Summer Camp at Home series is space themed! My oldest LOVES all things space, so I've done a weekly theme of space before, but I've changed up the activities and things to keep it interesting! Here is a picture of some of the supplies I have! Some of these things I had, but I'll tell you where I got everything in the picture! According to my oldest, you can't have a space week without Star Wars, so that's why that's in the mix! We also have Star Wars themed workbooks that I can work from! So on the left side of the picture, you can see a few craft items, door hangers, magnet kits and there's scratch art as well. I got all of those crafts at AC Moore for $1 each! The Melissa & Doug seek & finds have different boards in there, space, transportation, ocean, etc. My boys LOVE stickers, so this will be a huge hit, I'm sure. These were at Five Below for $4. I thought it was a fair price to pay for Melissa ...

Summer Camp (At Home!)

Image
Hey, ya'll! Welcome (or welcome back!) Today I'm going to post a list I've been working on for some time, knowing that when Summer vacation came around I needed to make sure I was prepared! We are a one car family, so outings tend to only happen when my husband is home (and mostly on weekends.) There will be days where I am able to leave with my two boys, but honestly, it can be a pain (two bulky car seats in and out of cars and all that jazz) I have a ton going on this summer. Parties, weddings, normal everyday wife and mothering, I'm on a weight loss journey, attempting to train for a 5k...oh, and I'm publishing a book. Yeah, what was I thinking? And then! Then I decided "Hey, why am I not blogging about all of this hot mess?! It's been a minute since I've uploaded anything!" and since I'm the queen of procrastinating, here I am! Okay, enough rambling. I could do that all day (you know, to avoid the dishes, laundry, screaming children, ...

Pumpkin Week: Day 3!

Image
Today was day 3 of pumpkin week for tot school! We don't do usually much more than an hour of "learning." Today we did a book, some songs, sensory play, a craft, and then we watched a movie.  Book Today we watched a read-along on YouTube of Duck & Goose Find a Pumpkin . It was a quick and easy read with the entire video being under three and a half minutes. It was a cute book, and very easy for the toddlers (my son, and my nephew) to follow along with. My son is 2.5 years old, and my nephew is 1.5 years old. We like quick and easy, since these two are busy guys!  Craft For our craft today, we did an easy painted pumpkin. I printed a pumpkin template out onto painting paper (trimmed down to fit into the printer) and then put the paper in a gallon sized baggie with some orange paint. I closed the bag up and let them push the paint around with their fingers. I was going to do a color mixing of yellow and red to make orange, but the last time they each...

Pumpkin week: Day 1!

Image
I can't promise I will update every day but I can tell you what we did today! Book Today we read the  Plumply, Dumply Pumpkin  written by Mary Serfozo and illustrated by Valeria Petrone. It's recommended for ages 3-6 but my two year old really liked it! It was easy to follow and had cute rhymes. It's about a tiger named Peter who is looking for the *perfect* pumpkin to make his jack-o-lantern! It's the perfect length book for small children. Very cute read! Craft This was a super easy, quick and adorable craft idea! I found it on Pinterest (where there are tons of ideas!) and it took just a few minutes to complete. This is cute and will definitely be saved with my Halloween things this year! Alphabet This cute printable came from Cassie over at 3dinosaurs , she has a ton of FREE printables! Also, don't mind the pink tint to this pumpkin....I was running out of colored ink and my printer didn't tell me. But this was part of a pac...

Pumpkin week! Book ideas!

Image
For pumpkin week the following books are some ideas on what to use for your tot school! I only got a few as my library has a limit of 3 items that are deemed seasonal books, so I was slightly limited! BUT, I plan on finding a couple of books on YouTube as well! That's always a great alternative if you can't get a hold of a book! The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin  written by Joe Troiano and illustrated by Susan Banta. Pete the Cat: Five Little Pumpkins  by James Dean. Pete the Cat is all the rage in my house right now, unfortunately, our library didn't have this book! Duck & Goose Find a Pumpkin  by Tad Hills. I really wanted this book, but my library didn't have this one either. We'll be Youtubing this one if I can find it! It's Pumpkin Day, Mouse!  by Laura Numeroff and illustrated by Felicia Bond. I love this author! The Pumpkin Book  by Gail Gibbons is a nonfiction book about the growth cycle of a pumpkin. I got this book for...

Farm week! Tot School

Image
This week for tot school we had a farm theme! I keep things super simple, usually doing music, crafts, reading, and sensory play. My son is 2.5 years old and is very interested in learning! He loves books, and music and trying to do puzzles. Books!  This week we checked out a bunch of books for school. I also got some older kid books for my 5.5-year-old so he felt included! I'll include links to Amazon as well, but we got ours from the library! The Little Red Hen (Makes a Pizza)  written by Philomen Sturges and illustrated by Amy Walrod. This book was very cute with a twist on a classic! Down on the Farm  was written by Merrily Kutner and illustrated by Will Hillenbrand. This book is simple, easy for toddlers to follow, and teaches them animal sounds. Down by the Barn  written and illustrated by Will Hillenbrand. Another simple to follow book for toddlers. Duck on a Bike  by David Shannon. This is a cute book where a duck decides to rid...
