Pumpkin week: Day 1!

I can't promise I will update every day but I can tell you what we did today!

Book
Today we read the Plumply, Dumply Pumpkin written by Mary Serfozo and illustrated by Valeria Petrone. It's recommended for ages 3-6 but my two year old really liked it! It was easy to follow and had cute rhymes. It's about a tiger named Peter who is looking for the *perfect* pumpkin to make his jack-o-lantern! It's the perfect length book for small children. Very cute read!

Craft

This was a super easy, quick and adorable craft idea! I found it on Pinterest (where there are tons of ideas!) and it took just a few minutes to complete. This is cute and will definitely be saved with my Halloween things this year!

Alphabet

This cute printable came from Cassie over at 3dinosaurs, she has a ton of FREE printables! Also, don't mind the pink tint to this pumpkin....I was running out of colored ink and my printer didn't tell me. But this was part of a pack she has! It took my 2.5-year-old no time at all to do this. My guy is recognizing a ton of letters and this is one of them! "look mama, P! I see P!" is what he kept saying as he was using his dot marker. You could use orange pom poms, play-doh balls, erasers, whatever you have on hand! Tot school has no rules!

Sensory

Don't mind the pants-less, diapered toddler....he refuses clothes most of the time, and honestly, we're lucky he wasn't naked in this photo ;). This is rice I colored orange and used some cute glittered pumpkins as our seek-and-find item. This activity was super inexpensive, even if you have to buy everything including the bin!

Cost breakdown:
Bin- $1 (Dollar Tree,  Target, Walmart)
White rice- (2 lbs) $1.42 (Walmart)
Orange paint- (yes, I used paint, it dries super fast!) .50 cents (Walmart)
Glittered pumpkins- .98 cents (Walmart)
Total=$3.90! I didn't have to buy the bin, it was something I already had, and I had the paint as well, so this cost me not even $2.50 and it will be something that both my kids will play with all week! I call that winning!

Also, that's definitely a tablecloth he's sitting on to help contain the mess. I bought a tablecloth that was a lot bigger than my table, so I cut it down to size and saved the rest...not having any idea what I was going to use it for. Then, I brought this sensory bin out and BOOM, a light bulb went off and it was awesome. I just picked the whole thing up and dumped any rice back into the bin and there was no mess on the floor. He played with this for over 30 minutes.

That was a little of our day in a nutshell. Tot school today was just over an hour and half of that time was spent playing with the sensory bin.

I hope you enjoyed our day! See you next time (hopefully tomorrow!)
