Frozen Lunch Movie Party!

Image
Hello there! A couple of weeks ago I wanted to do a family movie night with my son, but it turned into a lunch movie date with my son, and two of my nieces. It was super simple and I used things I had on hand already so I didn't break the bank! I bought the sing along version of the movie, and I think I was the only one who was singing along! Yikes, no one wants to hear me sing, I promise! :) The great news is you can basically call any food any name that's tied into the movie and the kids won't know the difference, hehe. So here's some pictures of the food I used with labels. I lucked out because I had the blue baskets on hand, but I bought them at Target in the Dollar Spot during Summer. I also had the blue bowls I got from Walmart for $1 as well! Literally the easiest thing ever! I put Frozen coloring sheets out for the little ones to do and viola! Grilled cheese, curly fries, carrots, popcorn and hot dogs. It was a little...

Chores, routines, etc!

Image
Welcome back! So lately I've been focusing on getting a routine down that works for both D and I! We have found one that works most of the time and it has been cutting down on temper tantrums a lot. D still doesn't talk much--he's 19 months old. He's trying but it all still comes out jumbled, so we've been working on it. In the meantime, we've been using schedules and routine charts. I use stickers to keep track of what we have done and I let D do them himself and he loves it! It's so easy to use and after each task D comes over and puts a sticker on the chart. I'm not sure if he completely understands what he's doing but he likes it :)  As for the "CHORE" part of the morning routine I try and change it up everyday so he doesn't get bored. Sometimes it's something as simple as helping Mommy make a bed, or fold blankets. Other times he helps me with his diaper laundry (recently started to cloth diaper, hopefully bloggi...

Slow Cooker Lasagna!

Image
Okay, so,  I currently am without a working oven. I've had to improvise on meals. I am *new* to the art of slow cookers/ Crockpots. *gasp!* I know, I know. Let's not talk about that though, okay? mmkay. Well, I've been wanting a cheesy pasta dish, and as much as I love to eat a lasagna, I highly dislike cooking one. So.....imagine my surprise when I found out you can make one in a crockpot! WITHOUT COOKING THE NOODLES. WIN! Yes, that was the most exciting part. However, this looked good on paper, but, how would it actually turn out? To say I was worried was a severe understatement. I stared at my ingredients for a good 30 minutes before I did anything at all (in hindsight, that was probably a really bad idea..having the ingredients out of the refrigerator that long, lol.) So. How did it turn out? I'll get there, I'll get there. Here's a brief recipe and some tweaks I wish I had done (again, hindsight) 1 box uncooked lasagna 2 jars of sauce (I used 16 oz, ...

Tot School day #3!

Image
Is anyone out there? I sadly do not think anyone (except for my husband and I) is reading this. It's quite sad. :( ANYWAY, it won't stop me, lol, at the very least it will be a little journal I can show my son when he's older! So day #3 of Tot School was pretty successful! We skipped yesterday because D went to my mom's house (the night before was date night!) and I think him getting out of our apartment and everything improved his mood, lol. So, yes, like I was saying (typing?) we had a great day! My day literally flew by all the way up until the minute Daddy got home! First, we started off with some Play-Doh. Up until today I had a hard time letting D play with it because he would attempt to eat it. I can proudly say, today was not a day I was nervous! Not once did it even go near his mouth! So proud (it's the little things I tell you!) You can let them use anything really to help play with it! I used a skewer (I cut off the sharp end and made sure the ...

Tot school-Day #2!

Image
Hey out there! Welcome back! Day 2 of Tot School was 50/50! D was extremely cranky in the morning and was not much into the morning's activities! We did two activities back to back and they lasted 20 minutes together. Much different than the day before. I think it had a lot to do with his crankiness, because he didn't even want to play with anything. He just wanted to be cuddled. So that's what we did until he went down for his morning nap. ANYWAY, We did a ladybug painting and I let him get use to using a bingo dauber (it was going to be used later that day.) So we started with the bingo dauber. And he LOVED it. But he mostly just liked daubing his hand...haha :) Yeah, that's what his hand looked like all day yesterday! I washed most of it off, but in the afternoon, he did it again! :) I don't care much because he's having fun and that's all that mattered.  We then went on to do a ladybug painting. I cut out black dots to add, bu...
